Skin Botox (Microbotox)

Skin botox, often called microbotox, is not the same service as the muscle-relaxing injection with a similar name. It uses tiny amounts spread across the skin, so the quality of the plan depends on dose and technique rather than on how many injection points are listed on a menu.

How it works

A diluted botulinum toxin is injected as many small superficial droplets just under the skin surface of the cheeks, forehead or other areas. At these low doses it is thought to act on the tiny muscles and glands in the skin, which may reduce oiliness, make pores look less prominent, and soften fine surface lines. Effects are usually modest and temporary, commonly lasting a few months, and they vary by person. Too much dose or placement that is too deep can weaken facial expression, which is the main thing a careful doctor guards against.

Who it may suit

  • Oily skin with pores that look enlarged
  • Fine surface lines that are not deep creases
  • Skin that looks coarse or uneven in light
  • People who want smoother texture without changing expression
  • Those who already respond well to standard toxin treatments

The treatment day

  1. Skin and expression assessment. The doctor checks your oil level, pore size and how strongly you use your facial muscles to decide the dose and areas.
  2. Product preparation. The toxin is diluted for superficial use. You can ask to see the labeled vial and learn the brand being used.
  3. Numbing and injection. After numbing cream, small droplets are placed across the area with a very fine needle, producing temporary raised dots.
  4. Aftercare review. You receive instructions and an idea of when to expect the effect to build.

Aftercare

  • Avoid rubbing or massaging the face for the rest of the day.
  • Skip heavy exercise, sauna and hot baths for about a day.
  • Use gentle cleansing and sunscreen while tiny puncture marks settle.
  • Hold off on makeup until the doctor says the skin has calmed.
  • Report persistent asymmetry or heaviness of expression.

Things to know first

  • Small bumps, redness and pinpoint bruises are common and usually fade within hours to a few days.
  • At too high a dose, smiling or lifting the brows can feel weaker for several weeks.
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding and certain nerve-muscle conditions are reasons not to proceed.
  • Benefits for pores and oil are often modest and not seen in everyone.
  • Some medicines can amplify the effect, so share your full medication list.

What to check before booking skin botox in Gangnam

Because dose is the whole story here, ask how the dilution is chosen and who decides it. A doctor who sets a conservative amount, explains the trade-off between stronger skin effects and stiffer expression, and offers to review at a follow-up is working in the right way. A menu that simply advertises a large number of injection points says little about how much active toxin you receive.

Ask which toxin brand is used and request to see the box or vial with its label and lot number. Diluted preparations are easy to mix imprecisely, so it is fair to ask whether the product is prepared fresh for you and by whom. Hesitation to name the brand, or a package where the product is not stated at all, is worth noting.

Check the quote for what is covered: the area, the number of sessions and any recheck. Also ask what the plan is if your expression feels heavier than expected. A clinic that has a calm, practical answer has probably handled it before. Compare at least two consultations if the proposal feels pushed or unclear.

Skin Botox (Microbotox): common questions

Is skin botox the same as regular botox?

It uses the same type of ingredient but at lower doses placed in the skin rather than the muscle, with different goals and different risks.

Will my face look frozen?

It should not at conservative doses. An overdone treatment can reduce expression temporarily, which is why the dose should be explained beforehand.

How soon will I see a difference?

Skin texture changes tend to appear over one to a few weeks and vary by person.

Can it be combined with other treatments?

Often yes, but timing matters. Ask the doctor to sequence it with any laser, filler or booster you are considering.
