Skin Analysis Consultation

Many Gangnam clinics start a visit with digital skin analysis, and some sell it as a standalone service. The images can reveal sun damage, pigment patterns, pores, and redness that are hard to see by eye. The device does not decide your treatment, though. How well the clinic interprets the results, and whether the analysis leads to an honest plan, is the real test.

How it works

A camera system captures the face under standard, polarized, and sometimes ultraviolet light. Software then scores features such as spots, wrinkles, pores, texture, and redness, comparing them with reference data for your age group. Cross-polarized images can show hidden pigmentation and vascular patterns. Scores are estimates, can vary with lighting and positioning, and are not a diagnosis. They are most useful for tracking change over time under the same conditions.

Who it may suit

  • People who want an objective baseline before starting treatment
  • Patients with pigmentation or redness where hidden damage informs the plan
  • Tracking progress across a series of sessions
  • Those comparing clinics who want a record they can discuss with others

The treatment day

  1. Preparation. Makeup is removed and hair is tied back so the face is evenly visible.
  2. Image capture. The face is photographed in several lighting modes from standard positions.
  3. Results review. The doctor goes through the images and scores, pointing out what is meaningful and what is noise.
  4. Planning. Findings are connected to a proposed plan, and the images are saved for later comparison.

Aftercare

  • No recovery is needed and normal activities can resume
  • Ask for a copy of your images and scores for your records
  • Retake images later under the same conditions to compare fairly
  • Keep notes on any questions raised by the results for your next consultation

Things to know first

  • Scores are estimates and depend on lighting, skin preparation, and positioning
  • The analysis cannot diagnose skin disease or lesions; a doctor must examine anything suspicious
  • Comparison to age-group averages can make normal skin seem poor, so interpretation matters
  • Results should not be used alone to justify a costly package
  • Ultraviolet imaging is generally low-risk, but ask about eye protection

What to check before booking a skin analysis in Gangnam

Look at who reads the results. A report generated by software and handed over with a sales pitch is not the same as a doctor explaining what the images mean. Ask whether the physician reviews them with you, and whether the conversation distinguishes between harmless variation and something needing attention.

Ask what the analysis will be used for. A fair clinic uses it to tailor advice and set a baseline, and will accept that you may take the findings elsewhere. If the findings seem to point mainly toward the clinic's own most expensive services, or if every face somehow receives a long list of problems, ask how the scores were interpreted and what a gentler plan would look like.

Also check how your data is handled. Facial images are personal information, so ask how long they are stored and whether they are shared. Request a copy of your results, because it gives you something concrete to compare across clinics and helps you judge whether each consultation addressed what the images actually showed.

Skin Analysis Consultation: common questions

Is a skin analysis a diagnosis?

No. It describes surface and near-surface features. A doctor must still examine your skin, particularly for lesions or conditions.

Why do my scores look so low?

Scores compare you with reference data and can be sensitive to lighting. Ask the doctor which findings actually matter.

Can I take the results to another clinic?

Usually you can ask for a copy. Doing so lets you compare how different doctors interpret the same information.
